Fashion Statement

Seen at: Naeem Khan fashion show at Saks Fifth Avenue in Naples to benefit the Saint Ann School Foundation. She was the event’s honorary chair.

What are you wearing? My coat is by Bill Blass, and the pants and top I had made.

Why did you choose this? I saw this coat a few months ago and thought it was just great looking. It wasn’t purchased specifically for this event, but it happened to work out.

What’s your fashion philosophy? I keep my clothes for a good number of years. I would rather buy things that I really love and keep them, rather than buy a lot and go with the trends.

Who influences your style? I go back to Norman Norell, a classic designer from years ago. Bill Blass, of course, is a classic. Carolina Herrera is a beautiful designer; Oscar [de la Renta], too.

What are you most comfortable in? Daytime Escada. And I’m probably more inclined toward pants.

Where do you like to shop? I shop at Saks a lot.

What would you never wear? A lot of heavy prints and a lot of ruffles. I’m not the printed, ruffly type.

How important is fashion in this area? Overall, probably not too much, because [the climate is appropriate for] resort. I think a lot of people don’t dress enough, and it’s gotten too casual here. I think people behave better if they’re nicely dressed.
