Eggs Thistle Benedict at Thistle Lodge

Overlooking Sanibel Island’s shell-strewn beach and the Gulf of Mexico, Thistle Lodge is Old Florida brunching at its finest. Executive Chef John Wolff’s elegant presentation of Eggs Thistle Benedict features two perfectly poached free range eggs over toasted English muffins, generously topped with sweet lump crab and a rich Béarnaise. Flanked by strips of applewood-smoked maple-peppered bacon, blanched jumbo green asparagus and home-style potatoes, it is a Southern delight. 2255 West Gulf Drive, Sanibel Island, 472-3145, thistlelodge.com. —Ivan Seligman

Bottoms Up

Festiv Ale from Naples Beach Brewery

Beer lovers are already on the lookout for special seasonal brews. But folks in Naples should pay close attention to area taps around Halloween. That’s when Naples Beach Brewery is releasing a small quantity of its Festiv Ale, an Oktoberfest brew made especially for the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples and its Nov. 2 Oktoberfest fundraiser. Brewer Will Lawson expects to have a few extra kegs to put into the world, so keep an eye out for this limited-time run. naplesbeachbrewery.com  —Jonathan Foerster
