What to Wear: Beachside Wedding

BY October 26, 2017

I’ve offered suggestions on what to wear to weddings on the beach before, but if the venue is beachside—using the Gulf as a beautiful backdrop—and the ceremony inside, chances are the happy couple are going a little more formal with their attire and expecting their guests to do the same. In fact, this makes choosing your outfit and accessories a little easier. For one thing, you won’t have to worry about how you stand in the sand in your heels! An elegant cocktail dress or sleek gown in a color that flatters your skin tone (or in a color that’s in keeping with the bride’s wishes, if requested) is a timelessly stylish choice. In Southwest Florida, it can be hard to find sophisticated dresses with sleeves, so a gorgeous wrap in a luxe fabric will help you feel more confident as well keep off the chill from aggressive inside air conditioning. If you’re a pants lover, look for a tunic and pants in a sheeny silk dupioni (reminiscent of a glamorous ’60s Jackie Kennedy), or flowing palazzo pants teamed with a kimono-style jacket or silky top with important sleeves. Complete the look with a metallic or sparkly clutch and jewelry.
