Gulfshore Treasures: Making Magic

Photographer Clyde Butcher, seen here in the Kissimmee River in a photo by his wife, Niki, has made a career of making beautiful, sometimes haunting, images from the seemingly primordial nature of Florida’s swamps, sloughs and grasslands. Eschewing modern technology, Butcher relies on old-fashioned cameras to capture the natural beauty at its most extreme. His latest work will be on display as part of his collection Kissimmee River: The Northern Everglades at the Big Cypress Gallery from Oct. 22 through Jan. 8.
