Are you ready to kick off the Super Bowl?
Kick off your Super Bowl festivities a day early and get some hot ideas for cool chili recipes for the Colts vs. Saints showdown at Whole Foods’ Chili Cook-Off at Mercato. Each department will cook up its own version, from vegetarian to seafood, and Naples firefighters will be on hand from noon to 3 p.m. to serve it up and put out the fire.

Downtown Fort Myers is the place to be this weekend for the arts. ArtFest Fort Myers (www.artfestfortmyers.com), a free, annual show, features works by 200 artists and artisans from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Edwards Drive. It kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday with Palettes & Plates to benefit art education in Lee County schools. Tickets, $20, are available by calling 768-3602. Or join a free Art Walk from 6–10 p.m. Friday, highlighting works ranging from Art of the Olympians to Arts for ACT to HOWL Gallery’s opening reception for a juried show. Theater lovers have two more choices this weekend with the opening of two new shows. At the Arcade Theatre in downtown Fort Myers, Florida Repertory Theatre brings to the stage the ever-popular You Can’t Take it With You Feb. 5–26. For tickets, call 332-4488, www.floridarep.org. Also opening Friday, at Foulds Theatre, is Theatre Conspiracy’s Glorious!, a comedy about a 1940s-era songster who was famous for her less-than-perfect pitch. Hot Rhythms and Sweet Swing will keep your toes tapping with the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra in this big band and jazz concert Friday and Saturday at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. The Capitol Quartet saxophonists will join the orchestra performing tunes by Porter, Ellington, Count Basie and more. Hit the courts Saturday at Naples Bay Resort for Seacrest Country Day School’s Tennis Round-Robin to benefit the school’s athletics programs. Activities, from noon to 6 p.m., include a tournament, local tennis pros leading clinics and playing a demonstration match, and an auction and raffle. It is open to the public, and tickets are $100.   • Enjoy an evening with Lauren Bacall Monday at the Phil (597-1900, www.thephil.org). The Tony- and Oscar-winning actress and icon will talk about her career in a program that will include film clips of some of her memorable performances.
     
  • Fred Couples, Gary Player and Lee Trevino are among the 36 PGA Tour and Champions Tour champs who will tee up in Naples this week. The ACE Group Classic Champions Tour swings into action Monday through Sunday at The Quarry. Get tickets at www.theacegroupclassic.com or 593-3900.
     
  • Join the chorus for the 21st annual Mrs. Edison’s Hymn Sing Tuesday to benefit Community Cooperative Ministries Inc.’s The Soup Kitchen. Admission is free, but cash and canned-goods donations are requested. Performances will take place at 1, 4 and 7 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Myers. The Florida Suncoast Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will hold its fourth annual Hope Gala, themed “The Aqua Ball,” at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples.
