Power Shopper

A Soap Opera

BY April 12, 2012

Showing our style doesn’t just stop at our clothing and personal appearance. It naturally extends to just about every other area of our lives, including the items and products we use every day.

For example, I have a penchant for gorgeous soap. Opening the wrapper on a brand new bar is like opening a gift—there is the sensory experience as the fragrance is released and the tactile experience of the soap in my hand. And I’m not alone in enjoying this little luxury (a rudimentary search online brings up more surveys on soap preferences than I ever imagined), but it’s really not surprising—this everyday item is the most personal of products, so it makes sense that something that touches every inch of our skin needs to be chosen with care.

I recently visited the Naples Soap Co. Be warned: You may be stricken with “kid in a candy store” syndrome, as the store is beautifully laid out with tempting testers at every turn. Originally developed to alleviate a variety of skin conditions, the soaps are handmade in the USA using natural ingredients, and there is an extensive range from which to choose, as well as bath bombs, body butters, salt scrubs and the smartest of ideas: shampoos and conditioners in bar form. Knowing how a leaking shampoo bottle can severely run the contents of a suitcase (trust me on this one) these little hair care bars will be joining me on all future travels!

Naples Soap Co. stores are located at Tin City, Naples; River District, Fort Myers; and Fisherman’s Village, Punta Gorda.
