Sometimes it takes more than medicine to feel better. Sometimes it takes a day of sun on your face, wind in your hair and sea air in your lungs. And that's just what patients and guests from Florida Cancer Specialists got during an afternoon in March when Sailing Heals (a non-profit organization that plans days on the water for patients) took two dozen of them out for lunch and an afternoon of boating from the Naples Sailing & Yacht Club. Sponsored by Panerai, the Italian watchmaker with a boutique at Waterside Shops, patients and their caregivers got to choose from a 70-foot luxury yacht, a classic sailboat or a stylish catamaran for their day in the Gulf of Mexico. The boat owners donated their time and crafts to the event. In addition to a day of great fun and new friends, Panerai invited everyone to an elegant Italian-themed cocktail party later that evening at their boutique. With the support of sponsors and volunteer host captains, Sailing Heals' mission is to provide people in need with an "escape for a spirit-lifting day at sea."
