A light and bright Southwest Florida home, original-
ly built as a model but quickly sold during its construction, features a contemporary design with interior choices that emphasize casual living.

“The cleaner lines and lighter backgrounds were chosen so the natural light would be reflected and the home would feel light, airy and welcoming,” says Faith Fix of Freestyle Interiors in Bonita Springs, which designed the approximate 5,000 square feet of space.

With an appreciation for intricate detailing, inverted coffered ceilings chosen for the indoors were duplicated in the lanai, creating a dramatic sense of continuity from one space to the other. “The ceiling was a blank canvas in a very large space,” Fix says. “We chose to build the inverted coffer because we needed to bring the high ceilings down into the space, and it also gave us the more transitional feeling we were looking for.”

Indoor living spaces flow easily from one to another, keeping the area’s casual lifestyle in mind. “With the open floor plan, we chose finishes and furnishings to maintain a consistent flow between the spaces with color and the style of furnishings,” Fix says. Special focal points were added, including an ultramodern wine room with a glass wall easily accessible from the dining room.
The home’s kitchen consists of a soft color palette that balances naturally with espresso-colored cabinetry. Backsplash tiles
are vibrant colors of copper and deep aqua. “We chose
to create one deep wall of cabinetry, which contains the ovens, the refrigerator and also wonderfully deep pantry space,” Fix says. An oversized island adds a comfortable gathering space for all.

Outdoors, the spacious
lanai offers more space for entertaining with a dining table that seats 12, island seating and a conversation area arranged around a cozy fireplace.

The home’s swimming pool provides a spectacular view from indoors. Large windows and
tall doors open to an expansive outdoor living space that also overlooks the vibrant greenery of the Quail West golf course.

Bathing in Luxury

A freestanding bathtub and a large, round shower with a teak seat and crystal accent tiles provide luxurious opportunities to relax in the home’s master bath.

Clearly Contemporary

Espresso-colored custom cabinets in the modest kitchen are paired with a backsplash of glass and stainless steel. The countertop is created from a solid surface material from Pompeii. Appliances are from Sub Zero and Wolf, including a new steam oven.

Textured Elegance

“We wanted to keep this room rather simple, yet elegant, and at the same time accent the great views from this space,” interior designer Faith Fix says. The ceiling detail was created by layering drywall and then painting the layers in accent colors. Neutral-colored fabrics with rich textures were selected to enhance the space.

Outdoor Abundance An extensive
lanai provides another space
for entertaining guests, including an outdoor kitchen, a dining area with seating space for 12
and a fireplace conversation area.
