Jonathan Charles’ new Icarus collection rewrites the ending of the Greek myth with opulent hand-carved wood wings on chairs, tables and mirrors available in silver- and gold-leaf finishes. Delicate marquetry using different hand-cut and inlaid veneers creates the feathered affect for the Empire Angel Wing Chair and other pieces in the collection, which also nods to early 19th century French design. The chair’s spread of carved walnut golden wings on the arms sweep downward to legs and seat rails. The collection also includes a classic floor mirror with carved wing frame in antique silver leaf standing more than 6-feet tall.
