Home of the Month: A Tasteful Estate

A Quail West model was quickly purchased just weeks before it was opened during the annual Parade of Homes.

Amid the spectacularly land-scaped lawns of Quail West is a polished brick driveway leading up to a grand estate home, awash in white. This house, known only briefly as the Sophia model during the season’s parade of homes here, was quickly reserved by a buyer—a local resident who saw it just two weeks before hordes of parade guests were scheduled to walk through it. The sales price: $3.5 million.

Indeed, it has a been a busy season for builders. “We have found that our fully furnished turnkey models have resonated with buyers in both Quail West and our custom homes in Park Shore (and The) Moorings,” says Claudine Leger-Wetzel, vice president of sales and marketing for Stock. “They love the fact they can move right in and start enjoying the lovely Southwest Florida lifestyle.”

Local homebuyers look for fresh and open, when it comes to style. “We did a clean contemporary style mixed with modern coastal detailing,” explains interior designer Daniel Killgore, of SOCO Interiors, who designed the home. “I just wanted to keep the palette very light.”

Tall, beamed ceilings, freshly painted in bright white, arch over sweeping open spaces to provide the casual living environment treasured by local residents. “We have seen a great response to our open great-room plans with large outdoor living areas,” Leger-Wetzel says. “Once again, these homes represent the best of Southwest Florida living where the indoors and outdoors meet seamlessly together to create a large open area for entertaining.”

Killgore incorporated special touches such as chandeliers that reflect a West Indies style and a glass-topped table serving as a partners’ desk. A color palette featuring cool and warm shades of tans and grays is intermingled throughout the home, with emphasis in the silver-leafed detailing on the ceiling of the master bath. A shimmering soft gold and silver palette is unique in the master bedroom.

Outdoor spaces provide all the creature comforts, with unique effect—including a firepit pouring water into the pool. The contemporary styling of indoor spaces is carried outside, from the fresh appeal of the outdoor kitchen to the glass-tiled swimming pool.

Preserved Open Spaces

The main living space of the home morphs its modern kitchen with adjoining spaces for eating and relaxation. Ivory travertine tiles in 2-foot squares were positioned throughout the space to add to its grand appeal. “The trend is to do a big island all on one level,” Killgore explains. A West Indies flair was incorporated here with the round breakfast table and lantern chandelier above.

A Party Groove

The man of the house has his own entertainment space in this luxurious Quail West home. The unique feature of a curved white bar is positioned near the front entry of the home, encouraging guests to immediately get in the party mood.

Lush and Lux

A luxurious outdoor living space considerably expands this home’s floor plan. Extra security from hurricanes and windstorms is provided by retractable screens and hurricane panels incorporated on the exterior perimeter of the lanai. The top accoutrement here: A MosquitoNix system emits environmentally friendly chrysanthemum oil to deter flying pests.

Dressed for  Prime Time

Soft golds and silvers adorn this master suite, which adjoins a spacious master bathroom. The special effect here is an exit out of the master shower into a private garden space featuring a fountain and more. “It has a great, connected outdoor shower,” Killgore says. “It has a nice view.”

Double the Pleasure

Killgore chose a long table of recycled wood and topped it off in glass to form a unique partners’ desk positioned among built-in cabinetry in this efficient office space. Dark floors of solid hardwood balance well with the a bronze chandelier that hangs above.
