Lab Theater to Open 'Revealing' Play for Good Cause

Calendar Girls opens this Friday.

BY September 30, 2015

They say actors bare their souls, but the troupe at The Laboratory Theater of Florida is baring a whole lot more than that.

The Fort Myers company opens its 2015-16 season with Calendar Girls on Friday. It’s the true story of a group of 11 British homemakers who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for a local cancer ward following the death of one of their husbands to the disease.

In the spirit of full immersion, the Lab Theater cast has created its own calendar, which will be on sale starting opening night. Local photographer Mila Bridger conducted the “sassy shoot.” Proceeds will benefit the Florida Cancer Foundation.

Calendar Girls opens Friday at 8 p.m. at The Laboratory Theater, 1634 Woodford Ave., Fort Myers. An opening night reception will be held at 7:15 p.m. For a complete listing of performance dates and ticket information, visit or call 218-0481.
