Tai Chi May Help People with Chronic Conditions

It seem stress and anxiety aren't the only things we can leave behind with the help of the martial art.

The Chinese martial art Tai Chi has already been suggested as a way to relieve stress and anxiety. Now, a new study is showing it may have other health benefits.

A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine says Tai Chi could help people who suffer from osteoarthritis, heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The researchers reviewed the exercise habits of participants in their 60s and 70s. The participants who took Tai Chi, compared to those who didn’t exercise or did a different type of workout, reported better improvements in muscle strength, walking and overall quality of life.

If you’re not too familiar with Tai Chi, more places are offering classes in the Southwest Florida area, including the scenic Naples Botanical Garden.
