Five New Spa Experiences in Southwest Florida

Go ahead—treat yourself

BY May 26, 2016

There’s no such thing as a bad day at the spa. And while we all love to feel pampered with a nice massage or pedicure, it’s even better when you can reap the benefits of your treatment long after you leave. We rounded up five spa experiences from around Southwest Florida that you’re sure to want to try—and that promise to keep you looking and feeling your best from head to toe.

1. Kybella

In the past, an injectable that destroys fat cells may have sounded too good to be true. Now, there’s Kybella—otherwise known as deoxycholic acid, which the body produces naturally—a noninvasive solution for stubborn under-the-chin fat. Kybella represents a new approach to submental fat removal, and it’s the first to be approved by the FDA for that purpose. Patients typically need just two to three 15-minute sessions to achieve the desired result—making it a resounding alternative to traditional liposuction.

2. Radiofrequency Treatments

The FDA stands behind this skin-repairing technology, which utilizes electrodes to emit radio waves into the dermal layer of the skin. When penetrated, the skin’s natural collagen heats up and contracts, causing the skin to firm and tighten instantly. But it’s not just for your face—post-pregnancy moms and Coolsculpting or liposuction patients can also utilize this technology all over the body to give their skin a youthful boost.

3. Brazilian Hair Treatments

When it comes to sleek, shiny hair, the Brazilians know what they’re doing. Take a cue from them and try a Brazilian Blowout Smoothing Treatment, which utilizes a Brazilian Super-Nutrient Complex and proprietary polymer system to create a protective protein layer around the hair shaft, improving its condition and smoothing the cuticle. It works for straight or curly styles for a smooth, glossy result—but hold the frizz. Or, if you struggle with split ends, opt for a Brazilian Blowout Split-End Treatment, which strengthens, repairs, seals and protects against split ends for a full month.

4. Platelet-Rich Plasma

They’re just three little letters—PRP—but they carry a big result. Short for platelet-rich plasma, PRP represents a treatment in which a small amount of blood is drawn, and the platelets are separated from other matter in a centrifuge. The resulting plasma can then be re-injected into the face (to increase collagen production), hairline (to stimulate hair growth) or joints (to treat pain)—all with no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.

5. Sleep Treatments

We’re all busy, and our daily stresses and responsibilities can take a toll on our well-being. When a restorative night’s sleep escapes your grasp, a sleep treatment may be just the thing you need to feel like yourself again. The Woodhouse Day Spa offers a variety of options for the sleep-deprived. The newest, called The Soma, literally means “exhilarated.” The 50-minute treatment combines the ancient arts of reflexology foot massage and Shirodhara scalp massage to calm the central nervous system and ease the mind and body.
