Feel Good

Turn Down Those Lights!

BY July 5, 2016

In case you haven’t noticed, street lights have undergone a change in recent years. That yellow-ish glare has been replaced with whiter LED lighting, in part to save energy and cost.

But, as the American Medical Association has recently pointed out, this could be disrupting your sleep.

Basically, too much light at night can disrupt your sleep patterns, which, in turn, can lead to health problems. This can come from something seemingly minute, like the light from your iPhone. Or, too-bright LED street lights, especially if you live in a big city.

The AMA is recommending that municipalities dim the level of public lighting to a happy medium—good enough to light the street but not harsh enough to hurt your health.
