Fort Myers Among the Fastest-Growing Cities in U.S.

U.S. News & World Report named it the No. 2 best place people are moving to.

The secret is out: Fort Myers and Cape Coral are good places to live.

As part of its Best Places to Live package, U.S. News & World Report had Fort Myers as the second fastest-growing metro area in the country. The net migration rate grew at about 14 percent from 2012 to 2016. This list ends up being a who’s who of Florida cities; Melbourne, Lakeland, Daytona Beach, Port St. Lucie, Orlando and Sarasota all made the top 10.

The area was actually first on the list the two years previous, but it was overtaken by Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this year.

The publication ranked Fort Myers the 41st best place to live overall in the country (which seems little low to us). Among the 125 Best Places to Live on the list, the publication then ranked the fastest-growing. (Naples was considered too small to make the list.)
