Take the No-Sugar Challenge

An easy way to ween yourself off sugar.

BY June 6, 2018

We love our ice cream. But the problem with such sweets is that those calories can add up quickly. Get a Coke at lunch and then a piece of pie after dinner and before you know it, you’re way over the recommended sugar limit (about 10 percent of total calories per day). It’s time to challenge yourself and do something about your sweet tooth. As recommended by the Mayo Clinic, try to go two weeks with as little sugar as possible. Avoid foods with more than 5 grams of added sugar or sweeteners. (Fruit, veggies and milk have natural sugar—which is great.) That means you’ll be reading a lot of labels, but by the end of your two weeks, you might find you’re not missing that bowl of ice cream after all.
