More than 1.5 million Botox injections are administered each year. And, the motivations for each of those injections are fairly varied, according to a study in JAMA Dermatology. Aside from their desire to look better, the vast majority of survey respondents said they got the shots for a psychological boost—the idea that they’ll feel more confident after an injection. More than half of the respondents said they got them for health reasons. Botox has been shown to help with migraines and eye and neck muscle twitching. Bottom line: Most said they did it for themselves, instead of for someone else.
