Realty Check: What Your Money Will Buy

Find out how much you have to fork over to buy one of Southwest Florida's fanciest homes.

BY February 7, 2019

Southwest Florida is home to some of the nicest real estate in the country. Thinking about buying a slice of paradise? Find out here how much you’ll have to hand over to be able to afford the toniest homes in the area.

$9.6 Million

The waterfront home at 270 Little Harbour Lane in Naples spent just 36 days on the market before going under contract and ultimately selling for $9.6 million in October. The fully furnished model estate was completed in 2016 by a team of well-respected names in Naples—Kukk Architecture & Design, A. Vernon Allen Builder and W Design Interiors—making it move-in-ready, much to the buyers’ delight, says listing agent Cynthia Joannou, a broker/associate with Barefoot Beach Properties. The newest build in Little Harbour, a guard-gated community within Port Royal, the 5,000-square-foot, two-floor home was made to maximize coastal living, with an expansive outdoor pool and living area, a dock and boat lift that can accommodate a 50-foot vessel, and direct, no-bridge access to Naples Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Indoor perks include a spacious kitchen, fireplace, office or den, vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors throughout. The four-bedroom, 5½-bathroom compound sits on nearly half an acre. Best of all? The new owners have the opportunity to join the coveted Port Royal Club, with its manicured beach, tennis and exercise facilities, personal trainers, spa treatments, dining options and more.

$5.6 Million

A tech-industry professional and his family were so taken by the 920 17th Ave S. home in Naples, they purchased it over the summer just after seeing a virtual tour online. The Aqualane Shores estate already came furnished from the seller, with staging done by John R Wood Properties’ Sandi Williams and her daughter, Brittani Williams Kellam, a certified home stager. Sandi and her husband, Mitch Williams, co-listed the property. “The presentation was dynamic enough to win [the buyers] over,” Mitch says. The nearly 5,000-square-foot residence makes outdoor living easy, with 10-foot sliders opening up to an oversize deck with plenty of entertainment space. A vanishing-edge pool and spa come just before a new seawall, dock and boatlift. “[The property] was one house removed from Naples Bay, so from many locations in the house you could actually see it,” Mitch says. Upstairs, the four-bedroom, 4½-bathroom living space features a den, mini kitchen and bonus leisure room with large balcony. The home is a short distance from Third Street South dining and entertainment, with the beach also nearby.

$1.6 Million

Buyers already living part-time in Bonita Bay chose to upgrade their condo to a larger, single-family home, with plans to spend more time in Southwest Florida. They found the right amount of space in the 26407 Brick Lane estate, which sold for $1.6 million in September. “It was an incredibly rare and special home site,” listing agent Jeff Jaarda, a broker associate with Royal Shell Real Estate, says. “It was at the end of a cul-de-sac and overlooked a surrounding lake and golf course.” Naples-based Collins & DuPont refreshed the interiors within the last year, bringing the 1999 build to life with an updated color palette and modified décor, which came with the home purchase. Located on more 0.35 acres, the 4,077-square-foot home contains an updated gourmet kitchen, a spacious two-car garage, three bedrooms, 3½ bathrooms and a guest retreat. “There was plenty of space to get away, read a book and enjoy some quiet time in this home,” Jaarda says.
