Vote: Best of Paradise Photo Contest

The contest is officially over. Thanks to everyone who voted. The winner will be announced in our August issue. 

The winner of our Best of Paradise Photo Contest will be determined by the votes of four professionals and you—the subscriber. Below, Gulfshore Life subscribers can vote once for their favorite photograph. In determining the contest winner, the subscriber choice will count as one vote out of five, and four professional judges will each receive one vote out of five. The winner will be announced in the August issue of Gulfshore Life

Meet our professional judges

 

Diane Rice

Diane Rice is the Director of Photography at Newsweek. She began her journalism career in newspapers in 2001 after studying graphic design and photography at Long Island University, and has worked on the design staffs at The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Washingtonian, Spa, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, Parenting, Caribbean Travel + Life, and Florida Travel + Life magazines. In her current role at Newsweek, she is responsible for the production, direction and editing of images for their flagship magazine. She has been a judge and portfolio reviewer for PhotoPlus Expo, Society of Professional Designers, NYPA (New York Press Association), PDN, Rangefinder, American Photo, WPOW (Woman Photojournalists of Washington) and the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C.

 

Todd M. Detwiler
Todd M. Detwiler is a creative professional and brand ambassador for global media teams, content creator providing custom solutions for industry leaders such as the New York Times, Apple, Disney, Nike, ESPN, Wired, The Wall Street Journal, Ogilvy, Time magazine, Harvard University, and the NFL. Beginning his career in the New York media industry, Todd worked his way through the editorial halls of Dennis Publishing, Hearst, and Rolling Stone. He eventually took a job in Prague to launch the brand of InStyle for the Czech Republic. He learned a great deal about bringing a new product to market in a foreign environment, tailoring to the trends of the core demographic, and adhering to established brand standards.

 

Sean Johnston 
Creative Director of Field & Stream, Popular Science, Saveur and Outdoor Life, Sean specializes in print and digital design. He currently serves as the Group Creative Director for Bonnier Corporation, where he’s overseeing the creative for the most iconic brands Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Saveur and Popular Science. He is responsible for the design of all special projects including Shot Business, Bass Pro Summer Fun, Range 365, Union Sportsman’s Journal, Outdoor Life University, and the Cycle World magazine relaunch. Sean has held key full-time positions in the publishing industry in both London and New York and has been recognized by The Society of Publication Designers, ASME and the Art Directors Club. Previously he was the Art Director for Maxim magazine (USA), Jungle Media Group, FHM magazine (USA), Personal Computer World magazine, and PC Pro magazine, amongst others. He has also developed strong relationships with clients, including: Spin, Blister Design agency, Avanti, Salt Water Sportsman, and Men’s Health.

 Sean was educated at the London College of Printing.
 Sean currently lives in New Jersey, with his wife and two children.

 

Kristen Hill
Kristen McClarty Hill is Photo Editor for both Gulfshore Life magazine and Luxury magazine. She has worked as a producer for commercial and editorial productions, and as a photographer’s rep and portfolio consultant. Kristen has collaborated with editorial teams, including: National Geographic Adventure, Outside, Newsweek, Men’s Journal, Saveur, Parenting, Babytalk, GQ, Snow, Garden Design, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, Babytalk, Scuba Diving & Snow. She won two ASME awards while at National Geographic Adventure magazine. Kristen was educated at Indiana University’s School of Journalism. She lives in Florida with her husband and son.
