5 Ways to Stay Fit in January

Ring in the New Year with a focus on balance and wellness in one of the most peaceful places around, when the Saba Movement Center and FMB Yoga & Wellness Project join to offer an hour of multilevel yoga in the gazebo at Lovers Key State Park. $10.

Jan. 5

Head to Cambier Park for a Qigong class held by White Dove Qigong. The slow, measured body movements and coordinated breathing are said to help you relax and boost the immune system. $7.

Jan. 22-24

For the 30th anniversary of the Tour De Cape, participants can head to Fathoms Restaurant & Bar for a pre-event celebration, where you can also pick up shirts and maps. A 5K run/walk takes place on Saturday, followed by 15, 30, 62 and 100-mile bike ride courses throughout Cape Coral on Sunday. 5K run $20; bike tour $40; combination $50.

Jan. 23

The Commando Challenge is a product of the Green Beret Challenge, so expect the eight-mile course to try your strength in all areas: pushing, pulling, crawling, running and carrying heavy items. Rather than competing against others, the goal is to push yourself and race against the clock. $100.

Jan. 30

Get in steps for a good cause. The National Alliance on Mental Illness hosts a morning walk around Baker Park to raise awareness for mental health. Free.
