Green is having a moment in home design. Whether it’s wild, tropical backyards or modern interiors with shades like sage, moss and hunter, the draw to bring nature inside the home continues. Here, architect Richard Guzman, of R.G. Designs, teamed up with Freestyle Interiors to create a 6,805-square-foot family estate, built by McGarvey Custom Homes, that breathes new life into the earthy palette with a design perfect for large families and even bigger parties.

The single-story home is spread across a vast lot in Pine Ridge Estates, with more than 2 acres of greenspace. In this neighborhood, listing agent Chris Resop says, “You have elbow room; you’re able to build a larger home and keep it on one level.” The design team banked on this land, smartly positioning the nearly-2,000-square-foot pool and outdoor conversation pit between the main home and a 1,107-square-foot guesthouse—connected to the main home via an outdoor walkway with a glass-paneled roof. Shrubs circle the perimeter for added privacy, and water features throughout add to the alfresco ambiance. “When you first walk through those iron double doors and look through the great room windows, you’re going to see a really beautiful water feature to grab your attention right when you come in,” says Resop, who runs Naples’ The Agency with his wife, Kara.

Guzman and McGarvey incorporated sky-high windows with thick black frames, using the views as living art installations. The six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom home follows a classic black-and-white palette, with white quartz countertops and black cabinetry on the twin waterfall islands in the kitchen and a marble-look, walk-in shower in the primary bath. On the windowless walls, Freestyle designers Faith Fix and Arlynn McDaniel relied on textured accents and contemporary art in verdant hues to bring the greenery indoors.

Green shades in accents and fabrics lend a seamless flow to the home’s entertaining spaces. A bar with custom black floating shelves houses wine and spirits for the at-home bartender (or hired staff for events), while a dining table nearby is set with eight muted teal chairs. The whole family can gather around the double islands in the kitchen to help cook. And for more formal dinners, another eight fully upholstered sage green chairs surround a long, dark wood table.

The scene is backed by a stunning walk-in wine room, connecting to the kitchen and butler’s pantry via swinging glass doors. And, of course, the party can easily flow outside, with another waterfall island that seats four and a chic dining table for 10, making alfresco dinners in the palm-lined backyard a breeze. The home sold for $9.45 million in May.
