For the past 10 years, nonprofits across Southwest Florida have kicked off the holiday season with Giving Tuesday—an international movement that rallies the entire world for a day of doing good. Beyond donating money, the campaign calls for people to give back in any way they can—contributing financially, donating time and skills, promoting an organization’s efforts or simply doing something nice for a neighbor.
Giving Tuesday operates under the notion that any little bit we do helps, and it provides a great opportunity for our philanthropic community to show the generous heart of Southwest Florida and contribute as our region continues to rebound after Hurricane Ian.
We reached out to our nonprofit friends to find out who is participating in #GivingTuesday on November 29. Join any of these efforts or reach out to the organization you support to see how you can help.
- Alliance for the Arts: Funds raised will go toward upcoming initiatives to assist in the nonprofit’s continued efforts to transform lives and improve our community through the arts; there is a match of up to $25,000
- The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks: Funds will help support different national park programs throughout Florida
- American Cancer Society: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued effort to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families; there is a match of up to $100,000 from MasterCard
- American Heart Association of Southwest Florida: Funds raised will support the nonprofit’s fight against heart disease and stroke through research, community impact programs and local education
- Artis—Naples: Funds raised will support the Artis—Naples annual fund
- Baby Basics: Funds raised will go toward the purchase of diapers for low-income families in Collier County and Bonita Springs
- Cancer Alliance of Naples: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to support local individuals and families touched by cancer by assisting in paying non-medical bills for cancer patients
- Captains for Clean Water: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to help in restoring our water quality and rebuilding our impacted communities
- Child’s Path: Funds raised will go toward the restoration of the Child’s Path Tiki Hut Shelter, damaged by Hurricane Ian, where children gather to play and learn outside at the nonprofit’s Santa Barbara location; donors contributing $1,000 or more during Giving Tuesday will have their names engraved on the Tiki Hut Restoration Plaque and be invited to tour the center upon completion of the repairs
- Conservancy of Southwest Florida: Funds raised will help support wildlife rehabilitation and scientific research, including mangrove restoration, Burmese python removal and the 40th anniversary of the sea turtle program
- Edison and Ford Winter Estates: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued mission to provide the community with unique educational experiences based on the artifacts, legacy and lives of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford and their time here in Florida
- The Everglades Foundation: Funds raised will help the nonprofit expand their Everglades Literacy Education Program and train 1,000 more teachers and reach 3,500 more students this year
- Florida Repertory Theatre: Funds raised will go toward the theatre’s repairs from Hurricane Ian
- Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to serve the community through education classes and camps, community outreach and ever-changing exhibits
- Grace Place: Funds raised will be used to support student success through the nonprofit’s programs
- Guadalupe Center: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to break the cycle of poverty through education for the children of Immokalee
- Gulf Coast Humane Society: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to care for companion pets in need by offering safe refuge, providing medical care and facilitating adoptions
- Gulfshore Playhouse: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to enrich the cultural landscape of our region by producing professional theatre to the highest artistic standards and providing educational opportunities
- Hope for Haiti: Funds raised will support the reconstruction of a primary school in the nonprofit’s partner community of Baradères; there is a match of up to $50,000 from Prime Lighting Logistics
- Humane Society Naples: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to shelter animals in times of need, locating life-long homes and advocating for responsible pet ownership; there is a match of up to $100,000
- IMAG History & Science Center: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s education programs
- The Immokalee Foundation: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s Career Pathways program, which provides early career-centric education and opportunities to Immokalee’s youth, empowering them to succeed and gain financial independence
- Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida: Funds raised will help support the nonprofit’s Inspire Career Exploration program, helping to inspire and engage Lee and Collier County students
- Kids’ Minds Matter: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s ongoing advocacy, expanded services and support for children and families
- LARC, Inc.: Funds raised will go toward recovery of the LARC campus; Hurricane Ian brought significant damage to one of the nonprofit’s Residential Group Homes, as well as their main campus’ outdoor program spaces
- Lee Health Foundation: Funds raised will go toward their Hurricane Ian employee relief fund
- Naples Art District: Funds raised will help support the nonprofit’s events and enable them to be offered free to the community
- Naples Art Institute: Funds raised will support the nonprofit’s continued efforts to enlighten, engage, educate and enrich our community through visual arts
- Naples Children & Education Foundation: Funds raised will help the mission of NCEF to continue their support of 54 Collier County nonprofits, impacting 35,000 children annually
- The Naples Players: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s programs and their ongoing response to Hurricane Ian through their Wellness Program
- Neighborhood Health Clinic: Funds raised will go toward supporting patient services at the Clinic
- Pace Center for Girls, Lee: Funds raised will go toward hurricane relief and recover efforts at the nonprofit’s center and will assist with major repairs to their building, as well as offset funding gaps due to their canceled/postponed events
- Parkinson’s Association of Southwest Florida: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to help our local community members live well with Parkinson’s Disease; double your impact with a match, thanks to local supporters
- Ronald McDonald House Charities: Funds raised will go toward helping families stay cost-free at the Ronald McDonald house; $10 helps cover the cost for a family for a one night stay
- Saint Ann School Foundation: Funds raised will go toward The Fund for an Education of Spirit, Mind and Body at Saint Ann School
- Shelter for Abused Women & Children: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued effort to ensure safe shelter and life-saving services are available at no charge to victims of domestic violence and human trafficking
- Southwest Florida Children’s Charities: Funds raised will go toward the SWFL Cares Relief Fund to directly support the employees in the medical field in our community after the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian
- St. Matthew’s House: Funds raised will support the nonprofit’s mission of providing hope to those experiencing hunger, homelessness and addiction in Southwest Florida
- STARability: Funds raised will go toward the nonprofit’s continued efforts to help their STAR participants live, work and thrive in Southwest Florida; there is a match of $15,000 through Dec. 31 from a group of STAR families
- Valerie’s House: Funds raised will go toward holiday gifts, grief support groups and activities, and additional individual grieving family needs; there is a match of up to $25,000 from the nonprofit’s board of directors
- Wonder Gardens: Funds raised will go toward Hurricane Ian recovery and support for the nonprofit’s school break and summer camp scholarships
- Youth Haven: Funds raised will go toward mental health initiatives for abused and neglected children and teens
