In peak season, Southwest Florida is full of festivities. In Naples, the US Open Pickleball Championships bring the best in the game to Naples to compete. Up in Estero, the Harlem Globetrotters dazzle the court at Hertz Arena. And crowds gather in downtown Fort Myers for mural unveilings from the team at Artsemble Underground as part of SWFL Art Fest. Pass Over at The Laboratory Theater of Florida, Fort Myers

The thought-provoking, Waiting for Godot-like play follows Moses and Kitch, two Black men living on a street corner in an urban police state, as they fantasize about a promised land. Playwright Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu uses biblical references in the play to reflect on racial oppression throughout history in this story that’s filled with comedic wit, drama and hope.

Fort Fest at Alliance for the Arts, Fort Myers

Country music fans flock to Fort Myers for this festival featuring up-and-coming stars, including Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Drew Parker. Drink-ticket sales support Old Florida Dream Foundation’s initiative to aid homeless and foster teens across Lee County; all other funds support Collaboratory’s post-hurricane “Rebuild Southwest Florida” initiative.
