5 Ways to Feel Good in April

Health and wellness events in Southwest Florida

BY April 3, 2018

April is finally here and season is almost coming to a close. All of us year-rounders can start coming out of our hibernation and get active in the community again. Here are five good reasons to get out this month.

Elevate Wellness Series Healthy Cooking Demonstration (April 6): As part of the David Lawrence Center Young Professional’s new wellness classes, chef Amy Peters will be demonstrating quick—and healthy—meals for young people on the go.

The Fast & The Furriest 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk at Hammond Stadium (April 7): Run by yourself or with your pooch in this benefit for the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

National Walking Day (April 16): Blue Zones Project—Southwest Florida is celebrating National Walking Day later in the month with special guest Dan Buettner, the best-selling author who came up with the whole Blue Zones concept.

Minto US Open Pickleball Championships at East Naples Community Park (April 21-29): If you’re a pickleball fan, East Naples Community Park is the place to be in April. The US Open draws some of the top pickleball talent from around the world. However, if you’re like us and aren’t quite world-class yet, clinics are being held April 21.

Beach Yoga to benefit Survive & Thrive at LaPlaya Resort (April 22): If you haven’t done beach yoga yet in your time here in Florida, you must give it a try. Proceeds from this event will go toward helping cancer survivors through the Survive & Thrive nonprofit.
