Low-Carb vs. Low-Fat. Who Wins?

Answer: vegetables

BY February 22, 2018

Researchers at Stanford University pitted two diets against each other: low-carb vs. low-fat. Turns out, both won. Or both lost, depending on how you look at it.

Participants in the study were split into two groups and asked to go on a reduced-fat or -carbohydrate diet. In the end, both groups lost about the same amount of weight. Uncovering the specifics of the diets, the researchers found that reducing carbs or fats really didn’t matter if the overall diet was still unhealthy. In the end, the researchers found what’s become a popular refrain nowadays: Focus on eating greens and whole grains. Counting calories is useless if you’re still eating highly processed foods.
