Don’t forget your iPod the next time you head to the gym. A study by researchers at Texas Tech University found that listening to music can help you tolerate intense exercise. The study looked at a group of participants under a cardiac stress test. Those who listened to tunes (in this case, upbeat Latin rhythms) were able to grind it out on average a minute longer than those who listened to nothing. It’s just a minute, but in an intense ECG stress test, it meant they stayed on the treadmill about 13 percent longer.
