Calendar Highlights: Back in Fashion
The buzzed-about exhibit of works by fashion powerhouses Yves Saint Laurent and Roy Halston Frowick opens tomorrow at The Baker Museum.
The ’70s were known for innovation on many fronts, not the least of which being sexy and, at the time, envelope-pushing silhouettes in fashion (Saturday Night Fever, anyone?). The Baker Museum allows us to relive those iconic glory days through the perspectives of two of their most influential designers. Yves Saint Lauren + Halston: Fashioning the ’70s serves as an attractive history lesson, showcasing 80 outfits and 20 accessories by the theatrical Laurent and minimal Haltson from The Museum at FIT. Visions in velvet, inspiration from menswear and non-Western lands, experimentation with print and more illustrate the decade’s wave of change. Runs Nov. 7 through March 6.
