5 Gorgeous Nature Photos

A sampling of our Gulfshore Treasures

BY October 14, 2016

One of the many things we love about Southwest Florida is the nature. This is the kind of place you don't find anywhere else. It's just a few miles off U.S. 41 where you can find yourself in what feels like an entirely different world. Luckily, we have a talented group of nature photographers to capture those scenes for us.

Every month in the magazine we run Gulfshore Treasures, a selection of photographs that capture the spirit of Southwest Florida. Here is some of the best nature photography we've recently run.

Alan Maltz captured this great egret in flight in the mangroved backcountry of Chokoloskee.

Dennis Goodman snapped this golden-hued cypress dome off the Everglades' Gator Hook trail.

Mounting his computer-controlled camera atop a 24-foot telescopic pole, R.J. Wiley captured a unique perspective of late morning in Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park.

Photographer Jim Freeman took this shot of a summer storm blooming in the 10,000 Islands.

Photographer R.J. Wiley took this sunset shot of the rough surf off Bonita Bay's Hickory Island.
