Make It a Date

Bold, retro-designed ceramic plates are just so apropos for the kitchen. Troy Lighting’s Dinner Date, available in two-, four-, six- and eight-plate combos, supports each piece with narrow hand-worked iron bars finished in dark antique bronze and an eye-pleasing asymmetrical configuration. $2,685 at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, Naples.

Automotive-Inspired Engineering

Poggenpohl once again revs up kitchen design with its new P’7350, a Porsche Design Studio-engineered fitted kitchen that abandons traditional horizontal architecture for a venture into vertical. Precise industrial mitering of cabinet front and body and vertical stainless steel-effect brushed aluminum trim create a streamlined look. Available in black, white and gray laminates with lacquer and matte finishes, mitered glass tops, wood veneers and totally customizable to your specs. Starting at $60,000. Poggenpohl Florida West showroom, Miromar Design Center, Estero.

The Softer Side of Modern

Freestyle’s Faith Fix describes the kitchen design of the Bardot model home in Quail West as “modern with a soft touch.” Created by designer Ruta Menaghlazi, the room features honey-toned stained walnut cabinetry accented with cream painted interiors on upper open cabinets; walnut flooring; and a quartz island countertop with waterfall edges. Man-made quartz by Pompeii, Fix says, “is as durable as granite, costs about the same but offers more contemporary and cleaner options.” A backsplash of brushed aluminum and glass adds some light-reflecting dazzle.

Nautical Notes

Tiny Bubbles

Grohe’s Blue kitchen faucet turns ordinary tap water into sparkling, still or a combination of both with just a turn of its rotary knob. An integrated colored LED display regulates carbonic acid content and delivers filtered and perfectly chilled water to your glass. Chrome or steel finishes, $3,995. Elegance in Plumbing, Naples.

Beach Mystique

Today’s kitchens are trending to white on white, which turns out is anything but ho-hum. Case in point: Kira Krümm’s bright, white and welcoming design for a client’s modern beach home in Bonita. The designer pairs sleek white cabinetry with mystery-white marble slabs on the island breakfast bar and countertops and a couture Statuario and paper-white marble chevron backsplash. Accessories and accents in aqua blue, the client’s favorite color, add watercolor-like strokes to the white canvas; the patterned wallpaper in the pantry takes it to the extreme. Weathered wood flooring warms the large space, as do sandblasted wood and iron barstools and the living edge of the walnut dining table.
