Most come into The Wine Store expecting to pick up a bottle for dinner, as the spot that opened last fall is known for owner Bruce Nichols’ nose for small producers and not-your-run-of-the-mill varietals. But Nichols’ in-shop tasting bar is gaining traction—so much so that he developed a menu of nibbles to accompany the rotating roster of by-the-glass pours (prices vary from $2.75 to $20-plus). Styled with rustic-chic wooden tables and plush bar stools, it’s a place where you’ll want to stay and sip. And if you consider yourself a perpetual student in the world of wine, sign up for Nichols’ nighttime educational events, like “epic tours” of leading viticultural regions.
