Realty Check: What Your Money Will Buy

Find out how much you have to fork over to buy one of Southwest Florida's fanciest homes.

Southwest Florida is home to some of the nicest real estate in the country. Thinking about buying a slice of paradise? Find out here how much you'll have to hand over to be able to afford the toniest homes in the area.

$6.6 Million

Previous Park Shore residents purchased the Estuary at Grey Oaks home at 1268 Osprey Trail in Naples for $6.6 million in late February. Buyers found most attractive the nearly 6,700-square-foot open floor plan, which is made even roomier with wide-plank oak flooring and oversize windows. Six-panel pocket sliders in the great room “allow for an abundance of natural light to fill the home and create seamless outdoor living,” says Melissa Williams, a real estate agent with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty who sold and, with Dan Guenther and Sam Heitman, listed the abode. “The lanai and pool area works well for the buyers’ lifestyle of entertaining with family and friends,” Williams says. Designed by Stofft-Cooney Architects and built in 2016 by Lutgert Construction, the property also features four bedrooms, a den, four full bathrooms and two half-bathrooms, and a second-story lounge. Beasley & Henley Interior Design livened up the indoors with a warm-neutral color palette and “rich” cabinetry, Williams says. Other details include a climate-controlled wine room, special suite and bar, sprawling master bathroom and closet, and four-car garage. The buyers can also enjoy the Grey Oaks Country Club’s golf courses, which they felt was a major bonus.

$4 Million

The 4449 Waters Edge Lane estate on Sanibel Island sold for $4 million in March after spending less than a year on the market. Listing agent Cindy Sitton, with Royal Shell Real Estate, describes the 2,827-square-foot property as a “Polynesian or Hawaiian tropical oasis” that differs vastly from typical coastal-style homes in Southwest Florida. Bamboo ceilings, cypress beams and yellow pine floors give the house an island-like feel, with blue accent walls adding extra character. “My client lived in Hawaii for part of her childhood, and it really reminded her of her childhood home,” Sitton says. The property also has three bedrooms, a private den, three bathrooms, and a main room with “walls of windows” overlooking the beachside cabana. Bougainvillea and towering palm trees shade the outdoor living area, which boasts multiple water features and a private outdoor shower. The one-story estate was remodeled in 2000 and sits on nearly a full acre. “There’s no other property like it on Sanibel,” Sitton says.

$1.1 Million

Buyers purchased the home at 23651 Waterside Drive in Estero for $1.1 million in February, just months after it hit the market. “The listing sold quickly because it was well-priced and in fabulous condition,” says listing agent Bunny Caravello, with Bunny Caravello & Team, Realtors. “As a former model home, it had all the bells and whistles.” The Pelican Landing property features a private courtyard entrance with a waterfall feature leading up to wood-framed glass double doors. Inside the 3,559-square-foot dwelling are three bedrooms plus a den, two full bathrooms and one half-bathroom, plus main living areas adorned with coffered and tray ceilings, crown and custom moldings, tile flooring and corner pocket sliders. Outside is an expansive lanai with a “gorgeous waterfall pool and spa and stunning water view,” Caravello says. A gazebo, bar and kitchen with built-in grill, and indoor/outdoor sound system are added perks.
