The Best Coffee in Southwest Florida

The search for the best brew begins with the best beans.

Here’s where to get your fix for a great cup of house-roasted joe, a smooth cold brew or a frilly frozen treat.

Bennett’s Fresh Roast: It made the cut for Food Network’s Donut Showdown (with at least 20 flavors fried up daily), but this Fort Myers and Sanibel café also roasts, grinds and brews its own coffee. bennettsfreshroast.com

Catalina Café: Craft cocktails revolve around making every element from scratch, so you could argue this is craft coffee. Just opened in the Naples Bay Resort, this is the place for house-made syrups (tiramisu!), single-brewed super-premium cups of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe or a peaberry from a women’s co-op in Rwanda. catalinacafe.com

The Grind: With two locations in Fort Myers, the café boasts you can have your java go from raw beans to being poured into your mug in the span of a few hours. But during a heat wave, try one of the espresso shakes—a decadent whipped version of an affogato. thegrindfl.com

Kunjani Coffee: If you like your coffee straight-up, this tiny new outpost across from Waterside Shops sells the roasted-in-Naples, organic, small-batch Black Tulip Coffee (along with Per’La from Miami). What you may not get in a large menu you’ll make up for with the killer cold brew, quaint patio and conjoined gallery of African art. kunjaninaples.com

Bad Ass Coffee: Despite the unfortunate—or cool (depending on your worldview)—name, there’s no denying the intrigue of the Kona coffee sold here, which is imported from Hawaii and is among the priciest in the world. The iced coffee is also never at risk of being diluted thanks to cool coffee ice cubes. thebadasscoffeecompany.com
