MANAGING EDITOR

Gulfshore Life seeks a Managing Editor to work with the Editor-in-Chief to further evolve our iconic brand. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating engaging and authoritative food, art, culture and other lifestyle content for a regional audience. Ideally, this person is familiar with Southwest Florida and has experience covering regional markets. 

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience working in publishing, demonstrates a deep commitment to the highest quality journalism, and has exceptional organizational skills.

Who We Are

Established in 1970, Gulfshore Life is a luxury lifestyle magazine that serves as the authority on the people, places. and culture of Southwest Florida (specifically Collier, Charlotte, and Lee counties, which include Naples, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Marco Island, Sanibel and Captiva and Cape Coral, among others). We produce 12 magazines a year, in addition to several Home and Health Custom Pub/Special Edition publications

You will:

  • Work with EIC in conceptualizing story and package ideas, creating monthly issue lineups, selecting writers, solving problems
  • Write editorial copy ranging in length from photo captions to full-length features
  • Edit text as needed and oversee the flow of all editorial copy and its corrections at every stage, from raw copy to printer submission; track progress of edit and art throughout issue
  • Create freelance deadlines and oversee implementation
  • Manage freelance contributors, from assignment conception to edit stage
  • Edit for custom and ancillary publications as requested
  • Additional copywriting, as needed (e-newsletters, blogs, select advertorials, event collateral, etc.)
  • Assist during company events as requested

You have:

  • Experience across various mediums (print, digital, social media, brand extensions, events) 
  • 7+ years working in publishing
  • Exceptional editing and writing skills
  • Ability to create content that’s authentic, brand-aligned, and engages both loyal readers and new audiences
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills 
  • Experience writing about luxury lifestyle topics
  • Solid understanding of digital landscape 

Qualifications and Job Requirements 

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree 

Experience: 

  • 7+ years in publishing, ideally with a focus on luxury, lifestyle and regional content
  • Skilled in editing and writing short service pieces, dynamic packages and long-form stories 
  • Experience managing multi-faceted projects

SENIOR EDITOR

Gulfshore Life seeks a Senior Editor to join the team as we seek to build and evolve our iconic brand. Our ideal candidate is passionate about creating engaging and authoritative stories about food, art, culture, and other lifestyle topics for a regional market. 

Who We Are

Established in 1961, Gulfshore Life is a luxury lifestyle magazine that serves as the authority on the people, places and culture of Southwest Florida (Charlotte, Collier and Lee counties). We produce 13 magazines a year, in addition to several Special Edition publications. 

What we’re looking for: A solid generalist writer/editor type with at least 3 years of journalism writing experience. As Senior Editor, you will pitch ideas and write FOB and BOB stories on food, art, travel, and health, as well as profiles and features. You will manage the events calendar and help compile information for feature packages. You will also support the editorial team as needed to execute the editorial strategy. The ideal candidate is a curious person who’s always looking for story ideas and is receptive to professional feedback. You are proactive, organized, and deadline-oriented without needing to be micromanaged. You care about delivering strong work and have a willingness to go the extra mile. You’re passionate about storytelling in all its forms (service, short, longform, digital) and are tech-savvy with experience producing digital content. Experience at a luxury and/or lifestyle magazine is a plus. Bonus points if you are from Southwest Florida or know the area well.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (journalism focus preferred) 

  • Experience: 3+  years of journalism writing experience—ideally in magazine publishing
