Author Izzy Gesell presents his inspiring talk on managing stress and changes through humor to be presented as a fundraising event benefiting the Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 1:30-3:30spm. The stress and the uncertainty involved in being diagnosed with Parkinson’s affects patients, care partners, family, and friends can be managed through improvisational theatre games and play. Izzy Gesell’s two-hour workshop offers ways to use Improvisational theatre practices and humor as tools to build self-confidence and competence while strengthening relationships and bringing more laughter into your life and the lives of those you care for. This presentation is not limited to those with Parkinson’s, MS or care partners, and will benefit anyone dealing with stress and wishing to learn to adapt to life changes.
Izzy Gesell is the author of The Resilient Caregiver: A Path to Managing Stress and Change through Humor and Play. He presents workshops for businesses and individuals that help to improve workplace environments and relationships and advance personal self-actualization, through improvisational theatre techniques. Proceeds from the presentation will benefit the Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida. Founded in 1997, the Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida Inc. is dedicated to helping those in our community of Collier and Lee county with Parkinson’s disease (PD). From diagnosis through the progression of the disease, The Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida (PASWFL) provides free programming for people with PD, their care partners and loved ones to ensure healthier outcomes in our community such as movement, educational classes, speech therapy, and so much more. PASWFL receives no government funding for its programs which are free to those with PD. The programs are only made possible through the generosity of our community partners and fundraising efforts.
The program is presented in partnership with Margot Escott, LCSW a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Naples, Florida for over thirty-four years. Margot teaches and speaks both nationally and locally on improvisational theatre exercises to achieve well being. She offers improvisational theatre classes for Parkinson’s, MS and care partners in addition to classes for teens, adults and those with anxiety.
