Celebrate the start of the weekend with a new Farmers Market, Food Trucks and live music each Friday at Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town.   Babcock Ranch’s Farmers Market starts Friday, Jan. 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. next to Slater’s Goods & Provisions and will offer a selection of seasonal local fruits and vegetables, honey and jam, and cheeses, meats and breads, along with unique craft items.   It is the 10th location for Local Roots Farmers Market operators Jean Baer and Betsy Ventura, who manage markets in nine Lee County locations including Sanibel, Fenway South, Coconut Point, Lakes Park, Bonita Springs, River District, Captiva Island, Boca Grande Farm & Fish Market, and Sanibel Outlets.   “With its focus on healthy living and sustainability, Babcock Ranch is a natural location for our Farmers Market,” said Baer. “It’s a great opportunity to buy locally and to gather with friends and neighbors.”   The Farmers Market, which runs through April, complements Babcock Ranch’s weekly Food Truck Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m. in Founder’s Square. Guests can enjoy fare from area’s favorite food trucks, live music and family fun. Babcock Ranch’s Table & Tap restaurant, Slater’s, and Square Scoops Coffee & Creamery are also open throughout the evening.   Guests can also tour furnished models that will remain open for viewing until 6 p.m. on Fridays through April, or stop by the Discover Center to join an Ambassador-led model home tour on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m.   More than two dozen model and quick-delivery homes are now open or under construction by Arthur Rutenberg Homes, Divco Custom Homes, Florida Lifestyle Homes, Fox Premier Builders, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pulte Homes, Stock Classic Homes and WCI.   Babcock National, a new golf and lifestyle community within Babcock Ranch, will feature 18 of Lennar’s most popular home designs offering 1,120 to 3,473 square feet of living space.
