When the Edisons lived here, there were not any grocery stores. Their caretakers had to discover which foods could be grown in the riverside jungle. This class will discuss the South Florida seasons for growing vegetables, how to improve the soil for best results, good watering techniques, integrated pest management, companion planting, benefits of raised bed gardening and how to select vegetables for your garden. This is an in-depth, two-hour program including classroom and garden time. Space is limited and registration is required. Choose from Tuesday, October 18 at 1:30 p.m., or Saturday, October 22 at 10 a.m. Register online at edisonford.org. Cost: $45 for Edison Ford members; $55 for non-members
