January's garden class is an introduction to Florida gardening. The material will include soil, nutrition, choosing plants for a specific yard or garden; understanding the difference between invasive and exotic plants; best practices; weed identification; plant identification; state and local regulations and much more. This class experience will include classroom and field exposure, so attendees should bring a water bottle, wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Both classes will last approximately 2 hours. All Garden Classes are held in the climate controlled and accessible classroom at the Fort Myers- Lee County Garden Council Building, adjacent to Edison Ford. All classes are limited to 25 participants. Class participants will receive a 20% discount coupon toward plant purchases in the Garden Shoppe. The cost of this program is $35 for Edison Ford members or $50 for both classes and $50 for non-members or $75 for both classes.
