Take home a memorable piece of the park! Paint to Park Plein Air Event Comes to Lover’ s Key to Benefit Friends of Lover’s Key
–Blue Ribbon Events, in partnership with Friends of Lover’s Key, announces the inaugural Paint the Park Plein Air event from April 16 through April 18, 2020. Artists from around the country will travel to Lover’s Key State Park for three days to paint spring nature landscapes and the beauty of this historic island.
Plein Air artists will be painting from 9am to 4pm daily. A quick draw competition will take place Saturday April 18 at sunset near the gazebo.
Visitors are invited to observe the artists, ask questions and experience the park in all it’s spring splendor from an artist’s perspective. Artists will spend three days painting en plein air, or in open air, and will submit up to two finished paintings to be featured in the exhibition, juried for prizes, and be available for sale. All prizes will be awarded at 11am Sunday April 19, 2020. The Paint the Park Sale will open on Sunday at noon and will feature the works of art showcasing beach, nature and people. Paint the Park is a special opportunity to own a piece of fine art depicting favorite locations throughout Lover’s Key State Park by locally and regionally renowned artists. All works will be no larger than 18″ x 24” and will be original works of art including oil, acrylic, watercolor and other painting media. Works will be individually priced by the artists and ready to take home at close of silent auction after 4pm. Commission split will be 25% FOLKS and 75% artist.
Paint the Park is a collaborative event presented by Blue Ribbon Events, Friends of a Lover’s Key and Barefoot Event Group.
Blue Ribbon Events will host a variety of free activities for all ages at Mermaid Fest throughout the weekend. A Mermaid contest, morning yoga, food trucks, information booths and speakers and a 4/20 BAKE-Off will all take place. A mermaid marketplace featuring art, crafts and nature related products will be open daily 10 am to 5pm. Kids and families are welcome to express their creative energies and learn about in a fun and safe outdoor setting.
