The Naples Concert Band will host a 50th Anniversary Season Concert on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Hayes Hall, Artis-Naples at 2:00 p.m. Sponsored by Moran Wealth Management, this star-studded performance will be led by Naples Concert Band (NCB) music director and conductor, Harris Lanzel, and feature the world premiere of “The Dolphins of Paradise Coast”, a new work composed by celebrated film composer, Rossano Galante, and commissioned by the NCB. Galante has composed music for the films Bite Marks, The Last Straight Man, Monday Morning, and Channels. He has served as orchestrator for over 60 studio films including A Quiet Place, The Mummy, Logan, Big Fat Liar, Scary Movie 2, The Tuxedo, and Tuesdays with Morrie, to name only a few. For his large-scale wind ensemble compositions, Galante has been commissioned by the Federation of Gay Games-Paris 2018, Atlanta Freedom Band, Lake Braddock High School Band, Hofstra University Symphonic Band, and the Nebraska Wind Symphony, among many others. Galante earned a degree in trumpet performance from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1992. He then was accepted into the film scoring program at the University of Southern California and studied with famed film composer Jerry Goldsmith. In addition, Glenn Basham, concert master of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform along with accordionist, Dr. Tom Cimarusti and outstanding vocalists, Heather Ivy and Mark Sanders, will combine to sing several ballads. About the Naples Concert Band Organized in January 1972, the Naples Concert Band originally consisted of 10 musicians playing to hundreds of musical lovers. Now in its 50th season, the Naples Concert Band has grown to over 90 musicians who often play to thousands during peak season in Naples. In 1983 the band established the Kenneth P. Wolfe Memorial Scholarship program. Since then, the band has awarded over $115,900 in student scholarships.
