Always looking to expand its entertainment roster, the award-winning Island View recently unveiled an all-new Saturday Night Showcase series, presenting several top performers from around the region and beyond.
Each Saturday will feature an immensely talented musician, and guests are encouraged to come by a bit earlier to take part in the restaurant’s $5 Signature Happy Hour, offered from 3 to 6 p.m. daily.
Here’s a look at the Saturday Night Showcases for January:
Jan. 4, 6 to 9 p.m.: Electric Violinist Luna Muni
Come enjoy the sounds of Luna Muni, an accomplished performing world-class violinist and music producer who began performing and studying the violin at the age of 4 and built up her career so well that she’s even performed at The Apollo. Luna enjoys spreading love and happiness through the sounds of her electric violin “Purple Rain.” (She’s also performing a special show in our top-floor Sun Deck Sunday, Jan. 5, from 5 to 9 p.m.)
Jan. 11, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Vicki Lei, pianist and singer
Vicki Lei has performed professionally for the last 40 years, her talent emanates through each and every song and lyric. She loves playing to the crowd, so expect a great selection of songs, both instrumental and vocal, from many genres performed on our baby grand piano that evening: maybe some Motown, oldies, jazz and classical, new-age and modern – or anything in between.
Almost daily, Vicki Lei offers her musical talents to local retirement homes, playing for the residents to help ease their minds through the love and sound of music.
Jan. 18, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Al Holland, of The Platters fame
Formerly of The Platters Motown group, Al Holland is an extremely talented musician performing a fabulous selection of Motown, R&B, blues and pop oldies hits, with a smooth, mellow voice that hits all the right notes. He regularly performs at many benefits and fund-raisers, and is a big advocate for autism awareness. We're proud to have him on our musical roster.
Jan. 25, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Rob Robinson
Living up to his nickname, Rob’s been lovingly referred to as “The Storyteller” by our staff, as he’s not only talented musically, but he ties all of his songs together while entertaining the crowd similar to the likes of Billy Joel, Tom Petty or Bob Dylan. He loves interacting with the audience, engaging the crowd and performing a great selection of hits that span over decades.
This talented and famed touring musician entertains between our baby grand piano and acoustic guitar, performing an eclectic mix of crowd-pleasers and underground favorites from the 1960s and beyond, performing such a varied selection of musical hits, you never know what you'll hear, maybe some Elton John, Allman Brothers, Otis Redding, Annie Lennox, he can play it all – and he’s always up for requests! Stop by, sing and dance along to this talented entertainer’s music.
Along with our all-new Saturday Night Showcase series, another popular evening the Island View proudly offers is Jazz Night Fridays, featuring talented songstress Angela Hicks, each Friday evening, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
There is no cost to attend any of these performances, and although walk-ins are welcome, RSVPs are always encouraged.
Guests may enjoy the Island View’s elegant menu during any of these performances, which features traditional Italian cuisine and fresh seafood specialties. Some of the latest menu additions include Tender Escargot, Gamberi Romano, Veal Fontinella and many other classic Old World recipes that have been passed down over generations. A few crowd-pleasing appetizers are Oysters Rockefeller, Eggplant Rotolo and hand-tossed flatbreads, each cooked in the restaurant’s Italian-imported wood-burning oven.
