07:00 PM untill 09:00 PM

Description

Benny Goodman is known as the “King of Swing” for his iconic Big Band recordings of the 1930s and ‘40s –instantly recognizable and still popular today. Dubbed by some as “chamber jazz,” his small groups and quartets were societal trailblazers featuring the best musicians who could blaze on tunes such as Avalon, After You’ve Gone and Slipped Disc, or delicately deliver lovely numbers such as Body and Soul, Moonglow and Memories of You.

The acclaimed Boilermaker Jazz Band is led by Paul Cosentino on clarinet, full-time bandleader who founded the band in 1988 at Carnegie Mellon University. Jennifer McNulty lends her smooth and sultry vocal stylings to ballads, standards and bubblin’ swing numbers. The Boilermaker Jazz Band has performed at major international venues, including Lincoln Center and the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City and the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. During this concert, you’ll enjoy present the best of Goodman’s small band classics, big band themes and great tunes made famous by “Goodman’s Gals.” To learn more visit www.shellpoint.org/concerts or call 239-239-454-2067
