Description
During the Golden Age of Broadway musicals (1943-1959), the smartest contemporary composers were crafting the day’s hit songs that set the standards for American musical theater. Rodgers and Hammerstein paved the way with Oklahoma! South Pacific, The King & I and The Sound of Music. At the same time, the brothers Gershwin, Lerner and Loewe, Berlin and Porter were etching their legacies into the Great American Songbook. MGM turned many of these great musicals into classic films, a genre that cemented their enduring popularity today. Raise the curtains as Broadway veterans Jennifer Hope Wills, Sean MacLaughlin and Rob Gallagher, with New York City-based orchestrator and arranger Ryan Shirar, bring The Golden Years of Broadway to life.
