Description
On the 24th of March, 2019, Voices of Naples, directed by Dr. Douglas Renfroe, will host the American debut of two choral arrangements, Ave Maria and Amazing Grace, by Pasquale Tassone at the First Presbyterian Church of Naples at 4pm with the composer in attendance. While the selections to be debuted are familiar treasures, Tassone has composed string accompaniment for his haunting renditions of these sacred favorites.
Pasquale Tassone studied at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, graduated with honors from the Chigiana Academy in Siena, Italy and earned his Ph D from Brandeis University. His teachers have included Franco Donatoni, Giacomo Manzoni and Sandro Gorli in Italy and John Clement Adams, Martin Boykan and Harold Shapero in the United States. In January 2018, his Wings of Light for String Quartet was chosen by the Italian Center for Rare Diseases in Rome as an artistic contribution toward the fight against rare diseases. More on Pasquale Tassone can be found at migidamusica.org
Voices of Naples is very excited for this American premier of Pasquale's new works. "Songs of America" will be the last concert of the chorale's 2018-2019 season.
