Description
This three-part class provides adult participants with the inspiration, motivation, and literary tools to write their unique life stories. With professional advice from an award-winning journalist and published author, and with examples from her semi-autobiographical novels and nonfiction memoir, students will learn how to get started, what to include (and what to purge), how to reprise conversations held years earlier, the way to deal with relatives and friends who appear in the story, the importance of a central theme, etc. Initial drafts will be read aloud for peer commentary and turned in for professional editing. At the conclusion of the course, each participant will be on his or her way to completing a polished, focused, accurate, and engaging memoir that will be treasured for generations to come.
