On Wednesday, April 6, 9-10 a.m., the group will discuss Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust,” by Immaculée Ilibagiza. Left to Tell relates the author’s harrowing experience during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. She survived by hiding with seven other women for 91 days in a cramped bathroom of a local pastor. Her family was brutally murdered in the holocaust that killed nearly a million Rwandans. In the book, she shares the experience of those terrifying days and her discovery of the power of prayer and the meaning of unconditional love. Immaculée Ilibagiza studied electronic and mechanical engineering at the National University in Rwanda. After the war, she emigrated to the United States and began working at the United Nations in New York City. She holds honorary doctoral degrees from The University of Notre Dame and Saint John’s University and was awarded The Mahatma Gandhi International Award for Reconciliation and Peace 2007. In 2007 she established the Left to Tell Charitable Fund, which helps support Rwandan orphans. The book may be purchased on Amazon in paperback. No reservations are required for joining the book club. A fee of $5 per person includes a beverage. Upcoming books scheduled for the book club: May 4: Loving My Actual Neighbor: 7 Practices to Treasure the People Right in Front of You, by Alexandra Kuykendall.
