STARability Foundation invites the community to participate in its 6th Annual Run, Walk & Roll 5K on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples. This inclusive event begins at 8 a.m. and features exciting post-event activities including vendors, games, raffles, food trucks and live music. Collier Board of County Commissioners Chairman Rick LoCastro will serve as the Grand Marshal for the race and Corey Lazar, WINK News anchor and recent Gulfshore Business 40 Under 40 recipient, will emcee the event. Registration is $35; ages 12 and younger are free. To register or learn more, visit STARability.org/5K. STARability’s annual race is essential to the organization’s mission of transforming the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. STARability’s pioneering programs provide participants with social, vocational and educational connections in the community. Financial support from events such as this ensures STAR participants can develop their skills, find jobs and make lasting connections. For four decades, STARability Foundation has been shining a light on abilities, not disabilities. Formed by a small community of caring parents, STARability has become one of Southwest Florida’s leading nonprofits. Today, the organization is opening a world of possibilities for hundreds of individuals ages 14 and older by offering a variety of inclusive programs focused on vocational training, continuing education, teamwork, social engagement and community involvement. STARability’s compassionate team supports people with disabilities by providing life-transforming opportunities that emphasize teamwork and a connection to the community while strengthening awareness and respect for individual abilities.
