STARability Foundation is pleased to announce the 6th Annual STAR Gala, The Adventure Begins: Every Journey is a Story, co-chaired by local philanthropists Laura Georgelos and Dena Rae Hancock. The fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, 2023, at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples at 5:30 p.m. and feature cocktails, dinner, live entertainment and exciting live and silent auctions. This year’s inspirational travel theme, with a nod to Italy, celebrates the journey and stories of STARability’s STAR participants, their families and friends. Following another sold-out event in 2023 that raised $2.9 million, STARability’s largest benefit event of the year returns to raise funds to preserve and expand the nonprofit organization’s innovative programs that shine light on ability, not disability. Proceeds will help support hundreds of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout the community. For four decades, STARability Foundation has been shining a light on abilities, not disabilities. Formed by a small community of caring parents, STARability has become one of Southwest Florida’s leading nonprofits. Today, the organization is opening a world of possibilities for hundreds of individuals ages 14 and older by offering a variety of inclusive programs focused on vocational training, continuing education, teamwork, social engagement and community involvement.
