If you are an orchid lover or someone who just likes rare things, it’s time for a trek out to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary to catch the “super ghost orchid.” Already nine flowers have bloomed from the plant, but there are more buds that look promising according to a release from the sanctuary.

The plant is located high in a bald cypress tree about three-quarters of a mile out on the sanctuary’s boardwalk. It can only be seen through binoculars or a spotting scope, which is usually on hand and pointed in the right direction. A second ghost orchid is expected to bloom soon. The rare orchid, often preyed upon by poachers, is only found in a small area in Southwest Florida. For more information, go to corkscrew.audubon.org/corkscrew-ghost-orchid
