Shadows of the Runway

Trends have leapt off the runway and onto our furniture.

BY September 25, 2014

What do shapely Lucite legs and surfaces abloom with flowers have in common?

Answer: They’re both fashion trends that have leapt off the runway and into home design.

Taylor King’s Sandestin ottoman, shown in helix velvet ($1,595 at Clive Daniel Home, Naples), is supported by see-through legs that melt into the background, much like the heels of recent intros from Prada and Stuart Weitzman. Dolce & Gabbana and Dior’s 2014 flower-powered designs are mimicked in the colorful no-water-required tulips of Hastings Tile & Bath’s Tuli Tuli collection, available in sets of six (starting at $380) and a complete series of 96 hand-painted tiles on a glossy surface. Designed by Ronald Van Der Hirst for Bardelli and exclusive to hastingstilebath.com.
