Jamaica-born Jinx McDonald was the first designer to explain to me what I was seeing in Southwest Florida’s new model homes. It’s a new look that’s neither cottage, contemporary nor transitional put playful in color and devoid of beige, tan, taupe and any shade of brown. It’s one we’ll get to experience this spring when the Naples designer completes WCI’s Carrara penthouse-inspired condo model in Talis Park. “Young, fresh and different,” is how McDonald describes it. Like the hue of this Caribbean blue Lillian August clipped-corner chest, which inspired the model’s interior. “This is how we see Naples’ new design, away from brown,” McDonald says.
